Mr. Robeson, I see we both have New Jersey in common ,you were born in Princeton, NJ and my late husband, Alfred Stieglitz, was born in Hoboken NJ .His parents were successful German Jewish immigrants. I have visited them there a few times but mostly we went to their summer estate on Lake George in the Adirondack's. We are different that you spent part of your career in London and I never travelled to Europe in my younger days. I admire your singing. "Old Man River" is a classic and your voice is amazing!
Hello there Mr. Robeson. A similarity I noticed between us, is that some time in our careers, something was holding us back. Racism was not allowing you to fuklly shine right away, and harsh Communist leaders prevented me and fellow Soviet artists to publish what we wanted to. Also, you let African and African American culture affect you and your performing as I allowed the tough political times in Russia affect my music. A major difference between, is that you seemed to have had a rough(er) childhood growing up, that was never really exposed to the arts. Granite, my childhood was never perfect, but my parents were big enthusiasts of music. Your voice is amazing: it has this deep tonal quality, that is hard to find in many men. And you are a very good performer, would you one day like to perform in one of my plays?
Thank you Mr. Shostakovich! I believe, having a rough(er) childhood helped me go forward during the Communist time. My father was a preacher during the slavery times which introduced me to being a vocalist. After i dropped out of the justice bar i turned to vocal as my next option.
Hello Mr. Robeson. I see we do have quite a few similarities. We both come from lower class African American families who struggled to make it in life. We both have faced racism in many different ways. We both come from a church background, and I noticed that your mother died when you were a kid as well. I'm sorry to hear that. The same thing happened to me when I was younger as well. But, in the end our struggles made us stronger performers and influenced many people in the world. Our only difference is the fact that you're an actor and I'm a musician.
We do have very similar backgrounds! What a coincidence! I have heard some of your music! you are an amazing player Mr. Waller! I am also sorry for your lost.
